After
completing the final mastering for The Blam - 3, Jerry Adler packed
his bags and guitar and went to Europe the following day. Upon arriving,
he and his girlfriend (artist Andrea Frank) rented a car and drove
in a very large circle. Over the next sixty days they would see Munich,
Berlin, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Paris, the south of France,
Barcelona, Genoa, Florence, Venice, a small cabin in the big Austrian
alps, and many towns, rivers, beaches, and woodlands in between. Jerry
returned home with most of what he had left with and 25 brand new
songs, 10 of which are featured here on flugente, his debut solo release.
These songs are unlike anything even hinted at in The Blam and, frankly,
unlike anything out today. Performed and recorded exactly as they
were written - one voice and one guitar - the ten tracks on this record
explode with the kind of originality, freshness, and raw immediacy
rarely heard.
